Elsa is an 8 week old lurcher puppy who is currently in foster in Stoke on Trent. Elsa will be ready to leave for a home of her own in 2 weeks time once she has received her 2nd vaccination. AS CUTE AS PUPPIES ARE OUR REHOMING CRITERIA WHEN IT COMES TO PUPS IS VERY STRICT so please read in full.
Lurcher puppies as ALL puppies are VERY hard work. Anyone wishing to apply to offer these puppies a home MUST have an adult within the home who is at home all of the time. These puppies will need time investing in them to continue with the housetraining and settling that our foster carers put in place. We can not stress enough how important it is for new owners to be committed to placing a young lurcher through training and socialisation classes and especially working on recall. They need to experience as many things as possibly from a very early age to ensure that they do not develop problems later in life. A young puppy is a blank canvas and we want homes willing to invest in them and understand they will get out what they put in. As lurchers these puppies will have natural drives, although it is true that some lurchers have no prey drive at all it must be understood that a lot do and it is not just nurture vs nature as nature can invariable win. Just because a lurcher is owned from a puppy it does not mean as they progress they will not develop a natural instinct in all things small and fluffy!
Lurcher puppies are not necessarily for the faint hearted within the home either as is no puppy. As they go through development they will go through phases. They are prone to being boisterous, using their teeth and getting up to all manner of mischief and if not handled right working alongside us may develop separation issues too! Although only babies we do feel that they would be best suited to homes with dog savy children 4 years and upwards who will not be phased at times by puppies behaving like puppies can towards them. They will be fine to be rehomed with cats that are use to dog and that will stand up for themselves if the puppy attempts to push their luck. If the puppies is to be an only dog then the home is going to need to be willing to work much harder to allow that dog to become comfortable as an only dog and accept that at times they may need to be left for short periods
Elsa is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed and will be microchipped before leaving. Homes MUST sign a contract stating that she will be neutered by her new home at a mutually agreeable age but we do insist they are spayed before 8 months. Any home not wishing to adhere to this needs not to apply as we do insist this is carried out. We are a rescue and encouraging or risking more puppies being produced is NOT what we are about.
If you are interested in offering Elsa a home then please do in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire below. Any new homes will be fully vetted and all immediate members of the family and resident dogs MUST be willing to travel to Stoke on Trent to meet with her
