Ruby is a beautiful black female greyhound with a beautiful face and really pretty eyes who has sadly been returned from a home due to no fault of her own whatsoever. She clearly needs a canine companion and to be allowed to spend all her time with her family and not shut away from them. She is approximately 26" to the shoulder and 5 years of age. We are desperate to get her into her forever home ASAP, she’s such a lovely girl.

Location: Ruby is currently in a foster home in Norfolk
Key Points: Can be shy, can be nervous around new people, fine with older children, VERY loving when she gets to know you, calm, quiet, easy and really doesn't ask for much in life other than a full tummy, cuddles and a soft bed. Great understanding of basic training, non-destructive and can be left for up to 3-4 hours with no problems with canine companions. Good on lead but can occasionally pull towards small dogs and cats so we would recommend using a harness.

~ Personality ~
Ruby is a real sweetheart who just needs a loving family to give her the love she craves and help to build her confidence. Ruby is a very easy girl apart from she can get occasionally excited when she sees a cat but PLEASE don't let this put you off as she is easy as pie in all other areas!

~ In the Home ~
Ruby is a very easy little girl to have around and is quiet and very well behaved. She is clean in the home and asks to go out. She also loves her bed and cuddle time A LOT!

~ Other Animals ~
Ruby is very good with medium sized and larger quiet dogs but doesn't really understand what small dogs are and so can occasionally get excited. A harness is recommended and we can advise her new family on how best to deal with this. Unfortunately, Ruby doesn't like cats or small furries

~ Out and About ~
Ruby loves her walks and is a very good girl both on the lead and in the car. She will need a minimum of two 30 minute walks a day and a safe garden play to in. She would also benefit from a chance to stretch her legs off lead a couple of times a week once she has bonded with her new owners. This would need to be in an enclosed area away from livestock and public roads.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Can I Live? ~
We feel Ruby would settle happily into most family environments but must have another calm and gentle canine companion. Ruby will also need people who are around most of the time to show her the ropes and help with her confidence (not to mention giving lots of cuddles) Please be aware though that we do not home dogs to families with children under 8 years of age. Please note that you will be required to travel to Norfolk to meet and collect her.

~ Where Am I? ~
Ruby is currently in a foster home in Norfolk where she is patiently awaiting a loving home offer.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Ruby is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, deflead and wormed and a home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you would like to offer a new home for Ruby, please contact the rescue on 075 000 626 48 and ask for Bronwen or send them an email if available.
