Rio is a lurcher who would love and active home. Or maybe even a flyball or agilty home where she would excell, she really is ball obsessed and SO FAST! She is a fabulous agile, sporty girl.
Rio landed with us around 2 months ago after being apparently *found*. She served her 28 days with us before moving to foster with our vet Cynthia who adores Rio and very much hoped to be her permanent home. Sadly Rio does not suit a working lifestyle as an only dog and it is imperative she finds a home with other dogs for company. Rio is currently on foster with me here at the kennels and is one of 11 dogs in the house! She gets one well with them all...
I can not sing this fabulous little dog's praises enough! She is loving, housetrained, sleeps well over night with the company of the other dogs, now settled here at the kennels in their company is fine left for 4 hours or so during the day and travels like a dream. Out and about on lead Rio walks well in the main, she does get a little excitable and pullS when she sees other dogs as she is SO desperate to say hello and socialise. Her recall off lead is fabulous, she does every now and then ignore you when other dogs are around because once again quite simply she wants to drop into first gear head off at lightening speed and say hello. This is typically young lurcher but some work on impulse control does need doing with her. Rio would LOVE basic training classes, flyball, agility, obedience anything! She is a dog that loves to learn and more than anything wants to please. She is just SO intelligent! Rio has also been fantastic with children, she loves being around them but is a little cheeky jumpy uppy as she is still young so does need to learn a little there. She will be fine to live with dog savvy children 6 years and upwards. Although Rio would excel in a sporty home she would also be fine with dogs to play with in an active home, a home who enjoy long walks, long playtimes and pretty much include their dogs in the day to day comings and going of a busy family life, she is just so nosy! However Rio is also happy to chill and sleep when is necessary and is no problem to settle during quiet times with my own hounds.
Rio is currently with us here in Stoke on Trent staying in the kennels house. She can be rehomed nationally subject to a successful homevisit being carried out and all members of the immediate family and any resident dogs being willing to travel to meet her.
