No one told Poppy there was a size limit on being a lap dog, and as far as she’s concerned, if she fits, she sits! This loveable five-year-old bull lurcher will try to snuggle right into the people she knows and trusts, and is impossible to resist when she wants a cuddle.
Poppy has previously lived in a home, and understands the finer points of being a pet, but can be worried by unfamiliar people. She needs an experienced family who will help her grow in confidence, and where she can have space to be away from visitors until she feels brave enough to greet them. Poppy is great with children, but due to her bouncy nature is only suitable to live with teenagers. Because she loves people so much, she would prefer a family where someone is at home most of the day. With time, and on-going support, however, she may be able to be left for short periods.
This energetic girl loves her walks and has the potential to be trained to run off-lead in quiet environments. Poppy wants to be the only dog in the home, but is happy to walk with other canine pals once she gets to know them and their humans. She has met breeds of many different sizes, and is learning to socialise with smaller dogs. She does get overexcited by cats, so walks in quiet, rural environments will be much more relaxing for everyone!
Poppy’s favourite thing is massage time: she’ll wriggle around to make sure you don’t miss any spots. Sometimes she enjoys it so much, she ends up leaning hard enough against you to push you over! Poppy is well behaved around food, and likes to take her chews off to a safe place to quietly enjoy them. She loves to play tug, but if you throw a toy for her, it’s 50-50 whether she’ll bound after it like a puppy or look at you wondering why you throw things away if you want them back!
This little girl has such a wonderful personality, she’s just waiting for the home where it can blossom. A true companion hound, she will listen as you tell her all about your day, accompany you on adventures, and then snooze happily with you on a lazy Sunday afternoon. In return, all she wants is for you to be her friend forever. If Poppy is the pup for you, please get in touch.
