Little Reuben is a three-year-old whippet cross who has had a difficult start in life, having been very badly treated by his previous owner. Understandably, poor Reuben is a nervous boy who can find new people and places quite scary at first. He’s looking for a very quiet home environment, where he can relax and settle in at his own pace. He would prefer not to live in a home with children, or where there are lots of visitors. He’d like to be the only dog if possible, but may be able to share with a calm canine companion following introductions.
Despite being so nervous of new people, Reuben is incredibly affectionate and playful with people he trusts. He loves fuss and cuddles, and is always up for a game of fetch or tug! Reuben does enjoy the company of other dogs, and is keen to play with them. However, he can be worried when meeting unfamiliar dogs on walks, and may bark at them, so would prefer to be walked in quiet areas. His new family should be prepared to carry on his training and socialisation around unfamiliar people and dogs: Forever Hounds Trust will provide support and advice on how to help Reuben feel safe in the world. Reuben thrives on routine and predictability, and will need kind and consistent handling. Once he comes out of his shell, Reuben is a really loveable, cheeky character with bags of personality! If you feel you can give Reuben the loving home he has missed out on so far, please get in touch.
