Well our wonderful little Joey is now ready to start looking for a home of his own but it needs to be the right home.
Joey is 17 months old and is quite an under confident boy at times, that said his confidence has grown massively since joining us here at Greyhound Gap and he has settled down well with us all.
Joey needs a saluki experienced home and he MUST have a calm female sighthound as a companion he would go to pieces as an only dog and really does look to the other dogs around him in situations he is not sure of. Joey will not be rehomed with other males as he did have some run ins with the male dog in his previous home so we don't wish to place him back into that situation. Out on walks his old owners did struggle with quite a high level of dog reactivity and we have not seen that here at Greyhound Gap but it is quite a controlled walking environment so there is nothing to say that when back into a home in a area with more dogs this behaviour wont start again. Any owner needs to understand and be aware of this.
We feel Joey would benefit more from a quieter home and NO young children. Children 13 years or upwards who are dog savy would be fine. He is not cat friendly. Joey is quite the renowned escape artist in a strange environment so any new home must have a safely fenced garden and be willing to keep him on lead with them until the bond has been cemented in any outside areas of the house. Once settled he will be fine. He is also walked in an escape proof harness incase another dog does make him panic.
All told though Joey is the most loving little dog who just wants someone to formulate a bond with and then the kisses and cuddles never stop. He would be better suited to a home with someone around all or most of the time in the beginning to continue with the work we have placed into him here at Greyhound Gap. He is fine left for short periods with the company of another dog and is crate trained.
Joey is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, neutered and microchipped and will also be rehomed with 1 months free insurance from Petplan. He is currently in Stoke on Trent but can be rehomed nationally subject to a successful homevisit and all members of the immediate family and any resident dogs being willing to travel to meet with him.
