About Me

This handsome little lurcher is 4 year old Primo, and he is just 27 inches to the shoulder.

He is a sweet, affectionate dog who has come into our care through no fault of his own, and is desperate to find his forever family. Primo has always lived in a home, and is the perfect pet. He is housetrained, easy to live with, and used to being left alone during the day (as long as he can curl up on the sofa!). Primo has always lived with cats, and could do so again with gradual introductions. He is very friendly with people, and has been used to living with children. He travels well in the car, and walks beautifully on lead.
Prior to coming into our care, poor Primo has had a frightening experience with other dogs, and is now very fearful of dogs that he doesn’t know well. Although he is very easy to walk and doesn’t bark at other dogs, he is very worried about being approached by them and can act defensively. Since Primo arrived at our kennels, we have been working with him to build his confidence around other dogs. He has been having safe, fun experiences with other dogs and has already started to enjoy their company much more. This socialisation can be continued in his new home, but must be done gradually, so that he is never overwhelmed. Our behaviour team will provide advice and guidance on how to do this, but his new owners must be sensitive to his needs, and able to give him support on walks so that he doesn’t have any frightening encounters with dogs. Primo would prefer to be the only dog in his new home, and will need to be walked in quieter areas where he is unlikely to be approached by off-lead dogs.
Although Primo needs a little more support than some of our dogs, he is definitely worth it and will make a truly wonderful companion for a lucky family!
