About Me

This is little Suki. Suki is an 11 month old lurcher girl who did not have the best start in life and was originally rescued from that life by a young couple. Sadly they did not feel they were the right home for Suki as she was a very nervous girl and looked for an experienced rescue place to give her that help she needed.

Suki is now in foster here in Stoke on Trent with a male Staffordshire Bull Terrier and 2 young female saluki x girls and gets on well with them all. Her confidence in the home has come on in leaps and bounds and she is brilliant when left for a couple of hours with the other dogs. Her old owners used a crate with her to try and help her feel more secure but our foster carer felt that this was part of the problem and since being out of it she has settled more and more. She is now fully housetrained. As she is slightly nervous though any new home may need to understand that she may have a few accidents in the beginning as is to be expected.

Out and about Suki is walked on a harness as she is still a little wary of strangers. That said though she has attended busy fundraising events with us and has coped admirably, both collections outside Morrisons and in a busy town centre she handled well proving that this girl is desperate to learn. When new people come to the house she can be a little bit barky at first but if placed in another room and allowed out once the visitors are in and settled she relaxes just fine. Suki has started to be allowed off lead on walks in certain places with her foster sisters and has proved to listen and have good recall and to stick with the other dogs. Suki would be best suited to a home with older children as she currently lives with three over the age of 10 and adores them. They are very dog sensible though and do behave accordingly around her. She most definitely needs the company of another dog and a steady male companion would be ideal that said though she has proved she could co exist with a female dog. As Suki is still quite timid at times we feel that she could learn to live with a dog savvy cat if introduced by someone who has the experience of introducing sighthounds and cats and had the time and patience to make sure introductions were handled properly.

As is the nature of the collie whippet Suki is quite a busy little girl who loves to play and loves her walks. We feel if given the chance and allowed to gain a little more confidence little Suki would love to be able to take part in flyball or agility and we feel once settled would do well.

Suki is currently on foster in Stoke on Trent and is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and has been spayed. She can be rehomed nationally subject to a successful homevisit and all members of the immediate family and any dogs travelling to meet with her.
